MHQP Announces Winners of 2024 Patient Experience Awards

(February 2025)

MHQP is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 “MHQP Patient Experience Awards.” MHQP introduced this award program in 2018 as a way to recognize the primary care practices that perform highest on our annual Commercial Patient Experience Survey, the only statewide survey of patient experience in primary care in Massachusetts.

First conducted in 2005, MHQP’s statewide survey, which is made possible through a collaborative initiative between MHQP, health plans and provider organizations, is a scientifically rigorous assessment of patients’ experiences with primary care that establishes accountability and reliable comparisons of clinician performance for Massachusetts. In 2024, MHQP received more than 30,000 responses to this survey of commercially insured patients from across the state. The results were used to identify the top overall performing adult primary care and pediatric practices in ten performance categories:

  • Patient-Provider Communications
  • Coordinating Patient Care
  • How Well Providers Know Their Patients
  • Assessment of Patient Behavioral Health Issues
  • Ease of Access to Care
  • Empowering Patient Self Care
  • Office Staff Professional Excellence
  • Patients’ Trust in Their Providers
  • Pediatric Preventive Care
  • Assessment of Child Development

MHQP also recognizes the practices that achieved the greatest improvement in a performance category in the past year. All award winners will be celebrated at a virtual event hosted by MHQP on February 27, 2025.

“Once again this year, we are thrilled to congratulate the winners of the 2024 MHQP Patient Experience Awards,” said Barbra Rabson, MHQP’s President and CEO. “These practices found a way to rise above the many challenges primary care practices are currently facing and provide best-in-class experiences for their patients. We are pleased to congratulate each of them on behalf of their patients for their exceptional commitment to excellence.”

“Primary care is the cornerstone of our health care system,” said Julita Mir, MD, MHQP’s Board Chair. “At a time when primary care is under tremendous stress in our state, these practices from all across the state recognized with this award have distinguished themselves where it matters most – in the experiences of their own patients.”

MHQP offers its hearty congratulations to each of the winners, listed below with the category(ies) in which they are receiving awards:
